Former NBA player Julius Hodge was announced as the new head coach at Lincoln University.
“I’m excited to introduce Julius Hodge as our next Men’s Head Basketball coach, “said Lincoln University Director of Athletics & Recreational Services and Interim Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Harry Stinson III. “Julius brings an extensive and decorated career to Lincoln highlighted by his stellar collegiate career at NC State, his NBA and overseas experiences as well as over 10 years of coaching at the collegiate level. His ability to lead young men, his passion for being a father, husband, educator, and coach coupled with his experiences will aid our student-athletes reach their ultimate goals. I look forward to working with him and seeing his leadership continue to build upon our foundation of a championship culture and we’re excited to have him and his family join Lincoln University to help us “Protect the PRIDE!”
Hodge spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Arkansas Little Rock. This past season the Trojans finished with a 21-13 overall record and a 14-4 mark within the OVC, earning them a number-one seed in the OVC Tournament; Little Rock was defeated in the championship game by Morehead State.
Before heading to Little Rock, Coach Hodge spent three seasons as an assistant at San Jose State.
In the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Hodge served on the staff of his former college coach, Herb Sendek at Santa Clara University; in his first season on staff, the Spartans recorded their first season above .500 in four years.
Hodge embarked on his coaching career in 2015 as the Director of Player Personnel at the University of Buffalo. That season the Bulls recorded a 20-win season, repeated as Mid-American Conference Champions, and made their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Hodge graduated from N.C. State in 2005, completing a decorated college career in which he was a two-time All-American, a second-team consensus All-America as a junior, and an Associated Press honorable mention All-America as a senior. He was also a two-time All-ACC performer and the 2004 ACC Player of the Year.
He was drafted 20th overall by the Denver Nuggets in the 2005 NBA Draft, spending time with the Nuggets and Bucks before continuing his career across the pond, playing in Europe, Asia, and Australia.
